Description
No. 11, Gallows Hill is a late 17th-century house that has been extended and altered in the 20th century. It is timber-framed with red brick nogging on the ground floor and a tiled roof. The house is two storeys high with an attic to the early bay, which has a gable facing the road and may have been part of a larger property. A 19th-century gabled porch with a pointed arched entranceway is on the left side of the house, leading to a ground floor window with whitewashed brick and a 4-light, 20th-century leaded casement. Above is an exposed timber frame with closely-spaced studs and a straight brace, alongside a matching window. A broad gable with struts to the collar supports a 2-light attic window. A rear gable stack is also present. The right return has a similar gable. A separately-roofed, 20th-century block is set back slightly to the left. The interior remains uninspected.
