Nos 28 and 28A on High Street are a building with origins dating back to the 16th or 17th century, featuring a timber frame and a painted brick facade from around the mid-19th century. The structure has a low-pitched slate roof with gabled ends and bracketed eaves, and it stands two storeys tall. The first floor has two windows with glazing bars, while the ground floor includes a 19th or 20th-century shopfront and an early 19th-century doorcase, which is adorned with fluted pilasters and a flat hood supported by brackets. The door has panelled reveals and a panelled door. On the south side, facing a passage, the building is jettied and has pargetted plasterwork along with an ovolo moulded mullion window. Inside, there are two chamfered beams on the first floor, along with jowled posts, cambered tie-beams, and arched braces.
