Description
The London coal duty marker located on Colney Heath was erected between 1861 and 1862 to indicate the limit of coal duty in the London areas. This cast iron post is painted white and features chamfered corners. The capital is adorned with roll mouldings, and the front face displays the City of London crest, although there are no other inscriptions. The marker was cast by Henry Grissell iron works at Regents Canal in London and is one of four such markers in the parish. It is situated 20 metres from the road, opposite the Cock Inn.
