Description
This is a London coal duty marker, erected between 1861 and 1862, to indicate the limit of coal duty in the London area. It is a cast iron post, painted white, and is normally one and a half metres high, although it is half sunk in the ground. The post features chamfered corners and roll mouldings that form a capital. The front displays the City of London crest along with the inscription '24 Vict'. This marker was cast by Henry Grissell iron works located at Regents Canal in London. It is one of four such markers in the parish.
