Description
No. 16 George Street is a corner house built around 1800. It has three storeys and curves around the corner to return onto Romeland. The building features three windows: one on each return and one curved window on the corner. It is constructed of red brick and has a moderately low pitched slate roof with a hipped curve at the corner. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are set beneath ganged brick arches; the windows on the returns are flat, while the corner window is round-arched. The centre window on the second floor is blocked. The corner windows and a round-headed door are set within a giant round-arched recess, with the door located in a further recess. Above the door, there is a painted, imitation fanlight. Nos. 11 to 16 George Street form a group.
