Description

The building at 22 George Street is a circa 1500 structure, originally a two-story, three-window dwelling. It has a high-pitched tiled roof. The first floor overhangs and sits on exposed beam ends, supported by stout posts that define the three bays, with thinner studs and plaster filling in between. Eighteenth-century sash windows with glazing bars are set within projecting box frames. The ground floor has nineteenth-century shop fronts. The building forms a group with numbers 18 to 28 on the same street.
