Description
No. 3 Holywell Hill is an early 18th-century front on a 17th-century double-span house. It features a high-pitched, tiled roof with ridges that run parallel to the street and a gabled extension at the rear. The building has tall chimney stacks and stands three storeys high with three windows. The front is constructed of blue brick with red brick dressing on the second floor, the reverse on the first floor, and late 18th-century ground floor brickwork in blue and red. There is a deep, moulded wood eaves cornice. The first and second floor sash windows have glazing bars in near-flush moulded frames, set under gauged brick arches, with the central windows displaying cut, curved patterns. On the ground floor, there is a late 18th-century central Venetian window and a doorcase to the right, featuring an open pediment with modillions and dentils above a similar cornice. The pilasters of the doorcase have fluted necking, and there is a cornice head with a patterned fanlight above a door made of four fielded and two flat panels. To the left, there is a small, modern, round-arched door. Nos 1 to 25 (odd) form a group.
