Description

The London coal duty marker, located on the north side of the River Colne, was erected between 1861 and 1862 to indicate the limit of coal duty in the London area. This cast iron post stands approximately one and a half metres high and has a square plan with chamfered corners. It features roll mouldings that form a capital, but it lacks the usual crest and inscription. The marker was cast by Henry Grissell's iron works at Regents Canal in London and is one of four parish markers.
