Description

This is a shop with living accommodation above, dating to around the late 16th century. It was extended in the 17th century and remodelled in the early 20th century. The building is timber-framed, with a rendered finish and applied mock timber framing to the front. It has plain tile roofs with gabled ends, and brick stacks at the back.

The main part of the building is a single depth and rectangular, with the ground floor now a single shop. There is a separate entrance on the south side, leading to three rooms above. Two adjoining rear wings, likely additions from the 17th century, form part of the plan.

The east front has a symmetrical appearance with three windows. The first floor has three-light windows with leaded panes that date to the early 20th century. The ground floor is a double-fronted shop with thin wooden pilasters, a fascia, a blind case, and a panelled door to the left, providing access to the accommodation above. The rear wings each have a gable and contain 20th-century casement windows.

Inside, the ground floor ceiling has been raised and is supported by a thin, chamfered cross-beam in the centre. The first-floor rooms retain exposed wall plates, posts, and braces. The roof, dating to the late 16th century, is a queen-post roof with clasped purlins and common rafters.
