Description

This is a late 15th or early 16th century house that was re-roofed and re-fronted in the early to mid-19th century. The front is of brick with a stuccoed plinth and has a low-pitched slated roof. The house has two storeys and three window bays. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, and those on the ground floor are segment-headed and tripartite, except for two on the right-hand side. A projecting door hood supports an inn sign on a panelled bow under a slated gable. The building was formerly "The Vine" public house. Inside, exposed timbers on the first floor suggest a roof of crown-post and collar-purlin construction, although this has been altered. An old compound chimney stack and some exposed timber are visible from the rear, which also shows a tiled roof with a catelide on the right-hand side.
