Description

This is a terrace of houses located in Swan Street, Ashwell. The left-hand side (number 22 and 24) dates to the early 17th century, while the right-hand side was likely built in the 17th or 18th century. The buildings were re-faced in the mid-19th century and have 20th-century details, with the notable exception of a well-preserved early 17th-century mullion and transom window situated between number 22 and 24. The terrace is two stories high and features six glazing bar casement windows. A white brick ridge stack, built up from a 17th-century base, is located between numbers 22 and 24. The 17th-century window has ovolo-moulded cross bars on the interior and diamond metal mullions. A lower two-story extension built of white brick, terminating in a white brick stack, is situated to the rear of number 24. Numbers 18 and 20 have a stuccoed ground floor and a painted brick upper floor.
