Description
23 Hitchin Street is a building dating from the 16th or 17th century that has been altered. The ground floor is constructed of red brick from the 18th century, while the first floor features plaster on a timber framework and has an old tiled roof. The building is two storeys high and includes a first-floor band. On the first floor, there are two flush casement windows, and on the ground floor, there are two canted bay windows with glazing bars, positioned on either side of a four flush panelled door that is sheltered by a hood. Some timber framework is exposed on the right side elevation. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 1, 1B, 3, 5, 7, 17, 19, 23, 31 (odd), 31A, 33, 33A, 35, and 43 to 57 (odd).
