Description

No. 56 High Street is a house and shop dating from the 16th century. It has a timber frame with plastered walls and a low slate roof. The building is two storeys high, with the upper floor jettied on flat joists and originally featuring a gable end. In the 19th century, the ground floor was slightly extended forward. The mid-19th century shop window and door are combined with architraves. The upper floor has a single margin-light sash window. A red brick ridge chimney stack, rebuilt in the late 17th century, is also present.
