Description
The Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with a northern part added in the late 20th century. It features a timber frame set on a high stuccoed sill, with the frame exposed at the front and roughcast panels in between. The southern gable is covered in dark weatherboarding, and the house has a steep old red tile roof, while the northern part has been carefully matched to this style. The two-storey building faces west and is long in shape. The older southern section has five windows on the first floor, with corresponding windows on the ground floor, but the entrance is located beneath the fourth window from the southern end. It has a six-panel fielded door and flush casement windows. There is a former chimney on the northern gable with two diagonal shafts, which is enclosed in the northern extension that has three windows on each floor. The house also features a wide eaves overhang that runs continuously along the front.
