Description
19 Bucklersbury is an 18th-century shop and dwelling with later alterations. It features brown and red brick with red brick dressings and a tiled roof. The building is situated on a corner site with two entrances, presenting a long elevation to Bucklersbury and a shorter return to Tilehouse Street.
The exterior facing Bucklersbury has two storeys and a pitched roof behind a parapet, hipped towards the Tilehouse Street return. There are three first-floor sash windows with glazing bars set under segmental arches. To the right, there is a similar ground-floor window that is blind, and to the left, a window with a flat arch. A 19th-century shop window is located to the right. The central door has an architrave surround with a dentil cornice supported by cut console brackets. Both elevations feature a first-floor band. The return elevation to Tilehouse Street includes a blind flat arch window on the first floor above a blind segmental arch window. To the right, there is a door with an architrave surround under a cut bracketed hood.
Inside, the ground floor has a sash window in an architrave above a panelled section, while the first floor features sash windows in reveals above a deep cill. There are panelled built-in cupboards, 18th-century mantelpieces, cast iron grates, and four-panel doors.
The building has group value with Nos. 15-18 Bucklersbury and 93A-96 Tilehouse Street.
