Description
Numbers 4 and 5 are early 19th-century stuccoed houses, each two storeys high with deep eaves that conceal a flat roof. Located on the south side of Tilehouse Street, the building features a slightly recessed carriageway at the southern end, which has a single window above it. The main facade includes four windows set in plain deep reveals, with sunk panels above the upper row that display cast iron balconies featuring a typical 19th-century anthemion motif. There are two round-headed doorways, each with a six-panel door and early Victorian fanlight, framed by simple architraves. Additionally, the front area is enclosed by early 19th-century cast iron railings. Numbers 1 to 17, 19 to 32, and 35 to 40 form a group with these houses.
