Description
No. 36 on The Street is a house that likely dates from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It has a timber frame, is plastered, and features a tiled roof with brick stacks. The building may have originally had a through passage hall with a cross wing to the right, resulting in an L-shaped plan. It stands two storeys tall and has two windows on the main range, which are three-light lattice casements with wrought iron frames, timber sills, and lintels. The smaller first-floor windows have simply moulded surrounds. There is a timber door located under an open timber and tiled porch. A gable end stack is positioned to the left, while a larger ridge stack is found to the right, where the main ridge meets the projecting gabled cross wing, which has similar casements and exposed wall plates and purlins. The rear extension has a half-hipped roof. The interior has not been inspected.
