Description

The south-east barn at Walnut Tree Farm is a 16th-century structure that has been divided for storage. It features a timber frame with dark weatherboarding and a steeply pitched tiled roof. The barn has seven tall bays and faces west, with double doors located in the second bay from the north end and in the southern bay, which also includes a lean-to outshut. The posts are step jowled at the ends and unjowled in the mid-bays, with a mid-height rail that is jointed in-line. The roof is a clasped-purlin type, supported by collar and queen struts in the trusses, and includes straight tension braces. The southern three bays have been partitioned off.
