Description
A pair of houses, originally designed as three or four dwellings, dating to the early 19th century, with possible origins in the 18th century and earlier, and extended in the later 19th century. The houses are constructed of knapped flint with red brick dressings and have a tiled roof. They are two storeys high, with a six-window front. The three bays on the right are more closely spaced and have a raised brick plinth. The ground floor features steps with wreathed iron railings leading to a raised panelled door, a moulded bracketed hood above, and recessed 12-pane sashes, with a 20-pane sash to the left. Similar features are present on the left bays, with two entrances: a six-panelled door and a part-glazed door, alongside two 20-pane sashes. A central ridge stack and external end stacks with offsets are visible. Gable end parapets have moulded kneelers. A two-bay wing extends to the rear left, incorporating a blocked door and glazing bar sashes. Behind this wing are two 18th-century red brick bays with sashes of 12, 16, and 20 panes; the ground floor sashes have cambered heads, while the first floor has 20th-century replacements. This section has a pantiled roof and a rear gable end of brick and flint rubble with moulded kneelers. Two-storey lean-to outshuts with shallower pitched slate roofs have been added to the rear elevations. The interior has not been inspected. The property is included for group value.
