Description
No. 83 High Street is a house dating from the 17th century, with extensions from the 18th or 19th century. It has a timber frame set on a brick base, and is rendered and weatherboarded. The roof is steeply pitched and thatched. The building features a lobby entry and was originally likely comprised of two cells, with two additional bays added to the left in two separate constructions. It is one storey high with an attic and has a plinth. The entrance, which has steps leading up to it, was originally central and is flanked by two-light small pane flush frame casements. To the left, there is a 20th-century two-light oriel window supported on brackets. The far left bay contains a 16-pane flush frame sash window. There is also a two-light attic dormer with eyebrow thatching to the left of the entrance. Ridge stacks are located behind the entrance and between the two added bays. The weatherboarded ends have two-light casements and a half hip to the left. A catslide roof covers a continuous lean-to outshut at the rear, except for the latest bay to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
