Description

161 and 165 High Street is a pair of houses dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. They feature an exposed timber frame with plaster infill and a plain tile roof, which has been raised higher at the eaves in the 18th century. There is a red brick chimney stack with tiled protection on the right gable end. The buildings are two storeys tall and have two casement windows from around 1900. The ground floor includes a pentice roof, and the timber framing consists of thin scantling with long diagonal braces.
