Description
The well head, located about 15 meters north of the library at Wall Hall, is a structure from the 17th century or earlier. It was acquired and positioned by J.P. Morgan in the early 20th century. Made of stone, it is likely of Spanish origin. The well head features a cylindrical hollow bowl with relief carvings on its outer face. Six pointed arches supported by twisted columns surround scenes of animals, which may be inspired by Aesop's Fables. Additionally, there is foliate ornamentation in the spandrels.
