Description

The Letchmore Heath War Memorial is a limestone cross located on the village green in Letchmore Heath. It honors the 55 local servicemen who died in the First and Second World Wars.

The memorial features a Celtic cross adorned with decorative relief knot work carvings on both the cross shaft and head. The shaft includes an incised commemorative inscription that reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN MEMORY OF THE MEN/ OF ALDENHAM/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914-1918." The cross stands on a square tapered plinth that is set upon a three-stepped base. Surrounding the base is a small area of paving.
