Description
The South Stable at Adam's Farm, located 3 metres east of the house in Widford village, is a stable dating from the 17th to 18th century. This tall, single-storey structure is timber-framed and features a steep gabled roof covered in red tiles, facing north. It is 4 bays long and subdivided, with stable doors. The front of the stable has weatherboarding up to the height of the doorheads, with plaster above. Inside, there are remains of wattle-and-daub infill visible. This stable was built on the site of the parlour and hall of a jettied 15th to 16th century house, with the service bay incorporated into the current farmhouse. It is an historic timber-framed stable and part of the picturesque farmyard group in this area of the village Conservation Area.
