Description
Legges Cottage is a gamekeeper's cottage that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 18th century and was extended in the mid-19th century. The original part of the building is timber-framed and covered in dark weatherboarding, while the extension is made of brick and has slate roofs. The cottage is a two-storey, two-room structure facing west, featuring a central staircase and an external gable chimney on the south side. The front is symmetrical, with a central boarded door flanked by a window on each side on both floors. The windows are two-light casements with arched heads, and there is a trefoil window above the door. At the rear, there is a taller two-and-a-half-storey square brick parlour extension that is flush with the south wall and has an internal gable chimney. A 20th-century entrance is located in a lean-to at the back. The cottage is set within a picturesque landscape.
