Description
This is a house, dating to the 17th century with early 19th-century additions, and located 30 metres north-east of Goddards. It has been extended to the south, originally over a garage. The house is timber-framed with weatherboarded gables, but its front is largely cased in painted rendered brickwork with a parapet. A more recent wall in painted brickwork runs along the south side. The roof is tiled, with a gabled section on the north side and a hipped section on the south; a flat roof is present to the south, hidden behind the extended parapet. The building is two storeys and four windows wide, facing east, with a front door in the north end and garage doors beneath the south window. The windows are recessed sash windows with segmented arches and 8/8 glazing. The parapet has a decorative recessed panel with vertical half-round uprights spaced at intervals. A large central square chimney dominates the facade, and the windows are irregularly placed. A four-panel door is located in the front corner of the north end, sheltered by a modern porch that abuts the adjacent property to the north. This historic 17th-century village house was extended in the early 19th century and is a prominent landmark on a bend in the road, forming part of a varied group within the local Conservation Area.
