Description
Westbury is a house dating from the 17th or early 18th century. It is timber-framed, with the south and west walls later cased in brick and all plastered, and has a steep roof covered in old red tiles, half-hipped to the south. A single-storey, slate-roofed verandah extends across the west side of the house. The main house is two storeys and an attic, featuring three upper windows facing west, and a large red brick chimney positioned centrally. A narrow, two-storey plastered service wing runs parallel on the east side, set back from the main house and incorporating a tiled canopy over a battered door in the angle. On the west front, there is a two-light Yorkshire sliding window on the upper level with small panes, along with two two-light replacement casement windows with small panes. The house is a picturesque building situated on a prominent corner site and is part of a mixed architectural group.
