Description
The Post House, formerly The Bell public house, is an early 18th-century house, extended to the east in the early 19th century. The original part of the house is timber-framed with roughcast rendering on a painted brick sill, and has a steep red tiled roof. It has a two-storey, two-cell plan, with end chimneys facing south. An eastern extension, with a two-storey single-cell plan and end chimney, is constructed of coursed flint pebble walls combined with grey brick quoins, window surrounds, and an external gable chimney. The original part of the house has two windows on each floor and a doorway into the right-hand room. It features three-light flush casement windows and a plank door with a small hood supported by shaped brackets. The extension has three-light casement windows on each floor, slightly recessed under segmental arches; a similar arch features above a blocked door in the right-hand corner. A two-storey rear wing, facing right, and a slated outshut are also present.
