Description

The barn at Adam's Farm, located 15 metres north of the house in Widford village, dates from the 18th century or earlier. It is timber-framed and weatherboarded, sitting on a low red brick plinth. The barn features a steep gabled roof that is now covered in corrugated iron. It is a tall, very long, 7-bay unaisled barn with its gable facing the road and double doors on the south side. The barn follows the northern boundary of the site and is depicted on the Tithe Map of 1839. Inside, it has curved braces supporting the cambered tie beams of the clasped purlin roof. This historic timber-framed structure is significant in the street scene and is part of the varied group of buildings around The Bell Inn, which adds to its group value.
