Description

North Barn, North East Barn, and Stable between at Number 10 (Bridgefoot Farm) are a range of two barns and a stable located 20 meters to the northeast of the house. The North Barn consists of two sections: the eastern half dates from the 17th century and was altered in the 19th century, while the western half is from the 16th century. The North East Barn is from the 18th century, and the Stable is also from the 18th century.

These timber-framed buildings are set on a tarred brick sill, with dark weatherboarding and steep corrugated iron roofs for the barns, and red pantiles for the stable. They form a picturesque single-storey range facing south and back onto the lane next to the ford. The eastern half of the North Barn features jowled posts in three bays, with straight braces and straight tension braces in the walls, and grooves for wattle and daub infill. The roof was rebuilt as a clasped purlin structure in the 19th century. The western half of the North Barn is a higher and deeper three-bay structure, with heavy jowled posts and curved braces to the tie-beam, a clasped purlin roof with wind braces, curved tension braces, and an edge-halved scarf joint with bridled butts in the wallplate. Double doors that were originally in the middle bay have been moved to the eastern bay when the eastern part was added.

The Stable has a clasped-purlin roof and curved braces. The three-bay North East Barn faces west and features a projecting gabled porch in the middle bay, with a dove loft in the gable apex. It has unjowled posts and studs rising to the wallplate without a mid-height rail, a clasped-purlin roof with collars and angle braces to each truss, and short knee-braces to the tie-beams, as well as a strainer between the purlins at mid-span.
