Description
Bockings is a house located opposite the churchyard, dating from the early 18th century, with heightening in the later 18th century and a brick casing, along with a parallel rear range added in the 19th century. The building features a timber frame on a stucco sill, cased in white painted brickwork, while the rear wing is also made of painted brick. A plaster flanking chimney is present on the north gable. The house has steep pink slate roofs, with the older range being half-hipped at the south. It is a long, one and a half storeys house with a central chimney plan facing west, and a two-storey rear range. The north end has a large gable chimney that was formerly external. The front of the house includes four dormer windows with lean-to roofs at the eaves, each fitted with two-light casements. There are three wide, three-light segmental arched recessed casement windows and a gabled porch leading to a door into a cross-passage that runs behind the chimney, located a third of the way from the north end. Inside, the original single-storey house's structure is exposed, featuring four bays with posts, wallplates, and tie-beams. The chamfered axial floor beam has been cut to accommodate the present stair in the cross passage.
