Description

Tattlers Lane Cottage is a pair of late 18th or early 19th century houses, now combined into a single dwelling. The eastern wing was rebuilt in the 1970s, matching the original style. The house is timber-framed with decorative pargeting and has old red tile roofs. It is a two-story house with a central chimney, facing south with a gable to the road. A parallel two-story rear range and a long two-story eastern wing extend from the main block. The irregular placement of windows suggests the original design was for two houses, each with one window on each floor and a door near the outer corner. One doorway on the left-hand side has been converted into a window. There is a plank door with a flat, moulded hood supported by shaped brackets, and flush two-light casement windows. A rear wing features three-light, flush 19th-century casement windows, and a long eastern extension with four windows. The interior has exposed thin timbering and joists. The west front has twin gables facing the roadside, with three-light and four-light flush casement windows.
