Description
The farmhouse at Poplar Farm is an early 18th century building, or possibly older, with some later alterations. The front and north end are constructed of red brick patterned with black headers, while the other sides are plastered. It features steep old red tile roofs. The house has a two-cell, two-storey layout with an end chimney plan, and a part with one and a half storeys at the south, which includes a lateral chimney on the front wall. There is a rear outshot with a catslide roof and a 20th-century dormer that has been raised off the rear roof slope. The front is asymmetrical, with two windows on each floor and a door that is off-centre to the left. The windows are 20th-century casements with a horizontal emphasis, fitted into the original openings with closer bricks next to the jambs. The north end has stepped corbelled kneelers leading to a brick gable parapet. Inside, there is a chimney on the north gable, while a later external chimney rises from the south gable of the lower south wing. Additionally, there is a 19th-century wall letterbox with 'VR' built into the pier at the southeast corner of the house.
