Description

The barn at Lime Tree Farm, located 30 meters east-southeast of the house, consists of two barns that have been joined into one. The eastern part dates from the 16th century or early 17th century, while the western part is from the 18th century. Both sections feature timber frames resting on low brick sills and are covered in dark weatherboarding with steeply pitched roofs.

The eastern section has an old red tiled porch, although the rest of the roof is made of corrugated iron. The western section has a roof of red pantiles with corrugated iron next to the verge of the western gable. The older eastern barn is a tall three-bay structure facing north, with a projecting gabled porch in the middle bay. It has jowled posts with mid-height rails that are tennoned in-line, an inclined queen-post, and a clasped-purlin roof without collars. The tie-beams are supported by curved braces, and the rafters are laid flat.

The more recent western barn is also a tall three-bay structure facing north, featuring a small door in the eastern bay and a high pitching door in the middle bay. This section has unjowled posts with mid-height rails that are tennoned in-line and straight braces to the tie-beams, along with an inclined queen-post and a clasped-purlin roof without collars.
