Description
Numbers 1-8 Almshouses, rebuilt in 1866, are located on Tower Hill in Much Hadham village. Constructed in a Tudor style, they are built of red brick with stone dressings and have an old tile roof, half-hipped at the ends. The building is single-storied. The street elevation features three doorways with moulded 4-centre arches, and four sets of 2, 2-light, diamond-leaded casement windows. A fourth entrance is contained within a projecting gabled porch on the south end, which has a tiled roof and a raised date plaque above the door. Four tall chimneystacks are present, each with chamfered corners and angled dentils.
