Description
This barn, located southeast of the house at Hadham Grange in Much Hadham village, dates from the 17th or 18th century. It is timber-framed and thatched, with weatherboarding and brick and plaster over a flint base. There are also old red tile additions. The barn features a three-bay, aisled construction made of hewn, pegged members with curved braces. The steep roof extends over the aisles, is half-hipped on the east side, and gabled on the west side, likely having originally extended further. The lower hipped and tiled extension on the west includes an attic dovecote and casement windows. A rear extension near the west end is nearly full height. Additionally, there is an open-sided outbuilding with a tiled roof in the southwest angle.
