Description

Home Farm is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with additions made in the mid-19th century. It is timber-framed and has one and a half storeys, with a plastered hall-house facing east. There is a two-storey cross wing on the south side that projects to the rear. The building features steep old red tile half-hipped roofs. The exterior includes basketwork pargetting with a palmette band at floor level and a single fleur-de-lis in panels above the windows.

A 19th-century west range has been added parallel to the hall, which includes a small two-storey gabled cross wing on the northwest, creating a square plan with a recessed center on the west. Wooden brackets support the wall plate, mimicking a Wealden house style. The external plasterwork decoration extends over the 19th-century parts, and there are wooden casements with dripboards fitted throughout.

On the west side, there is a canted bay window with a tiled roof, a similar oriel window, and a lean-to enclosed porch on the east. The older cross wing features a large central chimney with two tall red brick square shafts connected by a projecting cap. Inside, the first floor displays exposed posts and tie beams in both the cross wing and hall range. The staircase on the north side of the chimney has been altered in the 19th century. Additionally, there is a large 19th-century chimney on the west side with three square shafts designed to imitate the older chimney.
