Description
The Barbery is an early 19th-century, two-storey house located on the west side of London Road. It features a two-window facade made of stucco with a slate roof and internal gable chimneys constructed from red brick. At the rear, there are irregular lean-to and gabled additions from the late 19th century, which have stucco walls, slate roofs, and casement windows. The front of the building has projecting eaves, two flush box sash windows with architraves, six-over-six panes, and louvred shutters. There are also two modern wooden shop fronts and a painted plinth. The northern gable includes a large chimney and a short stretch of steep slated roof, along with front and rear walls that are remnants of the 17th-century Kings Head Inn, which has since been demolished. The Barbery is listed for its group value.
