Description
The stable block at Number 4 is a mid-19th century L-shaped detached structure located in the yard behind the main building. It is built of colourwashed brick and features slate roofs that are hipped at an angle but gabled at the ends, with plain bargeboards. The wing that runs parallel to Bell Street has a recessed sash window with six panes over six panes under a flat arch on both the ground and first floors on the north side, along with a four-panel beaded flush door. On the south side, there is a lateral chimney, a large recessed sash window with six panes over six panes on the ground floor, and two smaller recessed sash windows with six panes under the eaves. The other wing of the stable block has openings only facing the yard. There is a small boarded door under a gauged brick segmental arch leading to the loft, which is centrally positioned above a large cambered arch with a heavy wooden frame and a ten-pane fanlight that pivots at the center. This building is included for its group value.
