Description

The Long Barn at Hill Farm, located 40 meters to the east of the house, is a barn dating from the early 17th century, with a half-hipped northern extension added in the 18th century. The roof has been altered in both the 18th and 20th centuries. The barn features a timber frame that is dark weatherboarded on a low sill, which has been renewed in concrete at the northern end. It has a steeply pitched roof that was originally thatched but is now covered with corrugated asbestos. The southern section consists of four bays with a low-pitched asbestos roof. Overall, it is a seven-bay barn with a two-bay separate extension to the north, facing east. There is a gabled porch located in the middle of the fifth bay from the southern end, with double doors leading to the yard on the west side opposite the porch. The structure includes jowled posts with long curved braces supporting the tie beams, and a clasped purlin roof of light scantling is still visible to the north of the porch bay. Additionally, there is a small two-light leaded window in the northern end.
