Description
Numbers 87, 87A, and 89 comprise two adjoining houses and a former carriageway, dating to the 17th century or earlier. The houses were later re-cased in brick during the 18th century, with the carriageway being converted to a house in the late 20th century. The houses have timber framing, with a red brick casing that incorporates random blue bricks in a Flemish bond. Number 89 retains some tuck-pointing. The houses have a stucco plinth and steep roofs covered in old red tiles. The main two-storey street-facing range is four windows long, with a recess of header bond brickwork above the doorway to Number 89. The west front has a plat-band, a dentilled and corbelled brick eaves course, and cambered arches above the ground floor windows. The left-hand portion of the building has sash windows with later plate glass, and a renewed six-panel door. The right-hand house (Number 89) features a tall, narrow, two-light flush casement window with small panes on each floor, alongside a six-panel door with the bottom two panels flush-beaded and the upper panels raised and fielded. End chimneys are located to the rear of the ridge on the left-hand house, with the largest chimney positioned to the south. A southern internal gable chimney is present on Number 89. A gabled two-storey rear wing is visible opposite the large chimney. The interior features open fireplaces and some panelling.
