Description
This is a house dating from the early 18th century, though it may incorporate fabric from an earlier building. It is constructed of red brick with grey headers arranged in a chequered pattern. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with old red tiles. The front, facing east, has two storeys and three windows. It features flush-box sash windows with two panes per sash. A low stucco plinth runs along the base, and there's a modillioned band at the eaves, with a gable parapet at the north end. The front door is a six-panel design with glazed upper panels, set within a heavy frame topped by a hood supported on shaped brackets. A segmental arch over the window to the right of the door, and a lintel over twin sash windows further to the right, are notable. A wide segmental arch at the north end of the front gives access to a carriageway with tall double doors and a hinged top flap. There is a large rear chimney, serving two flues, as well as a front wall chimney at the south end, also serving two flues. A painted notice on the front wall indicates that the property was formerly occupied by Walter E. Spary, a wheelwright.
