Description
The walls of the walled garden at Cheverells, located 100 meters to the east of the house, date from the 18th century, with corner piers featuring ball finials that were rebuilt in the 19th century. The walls are constructed of red brick with blue brick headers, primarily in Flemish bond. Blue brick piers are accented with red dressings and topped with stone ball caps. The rectangular enclosure measures approximately 50 meters by 35 meters, with walls standing about 3 meters tall, complete with a plinth and brick-on-edge coping. Inside, there is a scarcement at half height on the south wall, and the exterior displays pilasters that project as much as the plinth. The east wall features a segmental arch above a wrought iron gate. The interior space is largely occupied by a tennis court.
