Description

Woodside Cottage is a house that dates from the 18th century or earlier, with an early 19th-century north wing. It is constructed of red brick, likely encasing a timber frame, with red brick extensions and steep old red tile roofs. The building is 1½ storeys high and has a two-cell, end chimney plan, facing south. It features a single-storey hipped west wing and a low two-storey early 19th-century rear wing. There is also a later single-storey hipped east wing with a lean-to at the angle with the rear wing. The internal chimney is located at the west, while the external chimney is at the east, with a rear gable chimney on the north wing.

The front of the house has two windows with a door between them. Two upper windows rise through the eaves, featuring swept roofs that extend to the main roof. There are two stone steps leading to a plank door. The left-hand side has three-light casement windows from the 18th century, while the right-hand side has a renewed two-light window below. All windows have leaded lattice glazing. To the left of the door, there is a shallow rectangular bay window. The front façade includes a chamfered plinth and a dentilled eaves course. The north wing has cast iron lattice casements, and the west gable is roughcast over the lower roof.

In front of the house, there is a deep well with a brick curb and wooden winding gear. It is said that the building was once the parish Pest House.
