Description

This is an early 19th-century remodelling of an earlier house, formerly known as the Royal Oak Inn. Records show it was operating as an inn as early as 1523 and was licensed later in the 16th century. The building has a Welsh slate roof and a red brick facade. The ground floor is stuccoed and features two single-light sash windows. The upper floors have two triple-light sash windows on each level. A portion of the original back elevation remains from the earlier construction. In the 18th century, the building served as a House of Correction. The building is part of a group featuring numbers 103 to 111 (odd) and 107A.
