Description

This stable, located 6 meters northeast of the house at Brown's Orchard, dates from around 1600. It features a timber frame and is covered in dark weatherboarding with a steep old red tile roof. The stable consists of four bays and is situated beside a gate, extending along the northern boundary and facing south. It has straight braces to the wallplates and curved braces to the cambered tie-beams. The intermediate trusses include inclined queen-posts, while the end trusses are equipped with collars and queen-struts. The roof is a clasped-purlin design with curved wind-braces.
