Description

The Old Parsonage is a building that dates back to around 1500, originally designed as a hall with two cross wings. The front was altered around 1840 and features roughcast on brick, with a plaster and timber frame. It has an old tile roof and stands two storeys high with attics. The building has a two-window parapeted hall range, with lower gabled cross wings that have upper floors jettied on curved brackets. There are four first-floor, three-light casements with Tudor hood moulds, and below the jetties, five-light casement bay windows. The structure includes openwork cusped gables and tall finials, along with a central gabled attic dormer. At the rear, there is a long, parapeted central extension. The hall was floored over in the 17th century, and a passage entrance was added. A new centralized stair was constructed in the 18th century, with its rail and newels replaced in the 19th century. There is also a 17th-century red brick wall to the west garden.
