Description
The entrance wall and screen to Whit Hern Park is an early 18th-century structure located on the east side of Churchgate in Cheshunt. The wall follows the curve of the road and features a wrought iron screen set on a low wall. It has close-set spiked posts and open-work square pilasters topped with scrolled finials. The design includes similar scrolled panels and spiral posts. There is a modern central gate with an overthrow, and the end piers are adorned with pineapple finials. Matching piers can also be found at the entrance further north and at the northern end of the wall. The wall has been later rendered with cement.
