Description
Hogges Hall is a mid-19th century timber-framed house with a slate roof, situated on the east side of Hoddesdon High Street. The building incorporates two bays from a 15th-century structure on its north side. It has five window bays in total, with sash windows featuring architrave surrounds and moulded cornices. The ground floor has been altered with modern shops. At the rear, a late 19th-century staircase oriel window with leaded lights creates a canted projection. Inside the north section, which is now occupied by Abbey National, original heavy floor beams rest on wooden brackets sculpted in the form of jesters, one of which is a restoration. A door with an ogee head and five cusps is visible on the north wall of the middle bay.
