Description

The Hoddesdon Clock Tower, built in 1835 by T. Smith, is a square clock tower made of yellow stock brick with stucco dressings. It features three diminishing stages, a moulded floor band, and a cornice. The middle stage has louvred belfry openings set in recessed panels, while the top stage displays clocks, with the original clocks located on the east and west faces. The tower is topped with a flattened pyramid copper roof and a stone palmette finial. It was constructed on the site of a medieval belfry tower.
